Ali has worked with Belgravia Leisure for the last 18 months and says she’s enjoyed working at Yarrambat Park Golf Course in the bar and bistro as well as working as the Community Inclusion Officer for Yarrambat.
To celebrate Father’s Day this year, we asked some of our team members what Father’s Day means to them. Ali said, “For us, Father’s Day is dorky presents chosen from the school Father’s Day stall, a sleep-in, and excitement outdoors because it’s the first weekend of Spring.
“The lead-up to Father’s Day at work is generally a busy one. This year it’s been particularly busy with families booking lunch at The Grasslands and free mini golf for all the dads that come down to Yarrambat for the day. We even secured a face painter and have balloons for the day, so we
When asked what some of her highlights of working with Belgravia Leisure were she said, “Hosting the big family events, like the Christmas movie night or Easter Family Fun Day. I also really enjoy being part of the clinics, getting people from all walks of life involved and seeing them form friendships, then continuing to play golf together.”
How have you, your team or venue been impacted by Covid and what have you learnt?
“We had to shut the venue during peak Covid periods, which impacted both staff and members. I found that people really missed out on the social interactions that come with playing golf. It was great to see them reconnecting back at the club, and enjoying themselves again.
“Our ladies club all kept in touch outside of the club, making a point of checking in on each other via social media and going for walks together.
“As golf was one of the first things to re-open after lockdowns, I noticed a lot of younger people signing up and playing as groups, which is fantastic for the sport,” Ali said.
What is your favourite and least favourite thing about your career?
“My favourite thing is the social side. I love being a part of the club and bringing people together with our clinics and events,” Ali said.
Where do you see yourself in the next three to five years?
“I genuinely love working in the golf sector. I love the people that play, the staff and working at the beautiful course. Belgravia Leisure is a fantastic company to work for, with so many opportunities that come along and peak my interest, I’m more than keen to explore options,” Ali said.
What are three things you’re most passionate about in life and why?
“My family including my partner, two children and my dog. My job. I love that I can share involvement within the community and use our space to help people to feel included and connected. Travelling and holidays. I enjoy any excuse to be at the beach,” Ali said.
