“A whole lot of personality and positivity” is what patrons and the team at Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre (MAAC) have come to love about Mr Day.
Whether welcoming patrons through the doors, creating positive energy around the venue or helping deliver community events and initiatives, Clinton Day, better known as Mr Day, has become a valued part of the guest experience at MAAC.

“I’ve been part of the Belgravia Leisure family for two years now, currently working as a Guest Experience Officer and I love what I do,” Mr Day said.
“Our members and guests have really embraced me and building those connections brings joy to my day or night and I like to think, to theirs as well. I enjoy having a chat, getting to know people and helping create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.
“I’m also an aspiring Drag Queen, so bringing confidence, creativity and a bit of diva energy into what I do has always come naturally to me.”
One of the proudest moments during his time at MAAC was being involved in CultureWise, Belgravia Leisure and Belgravia Foundation’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander online cultural awareness initiative, launched at the 2026 Diversity and Inclusion in Leisure Forum as part of Belgravia Leisure’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
“First and foremost, the CultureWise project has been a highlight for me,” Mr Day said.
“Being part of the process was truly empowering. CultureWise helps build greater understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and experiences across the leisure industry, while encouraging culturally safe and welcoming environments for both teams and communities.
“It felt really meaningful to contribute to something that creates conversation and education across our industry.”

Other memorable moments have included being involved in the filming of a National Indigenous Television (NITV) news story reflecting on the 60-year legacy of the 1965 Freedom Ride. As part of the visit, the team welcomed Gomeroi man, cultural mentor and youth worker Buddy Hippi.
The story later aired on NITV, with MAAC featured from 2:37 and Mr Day appearing at 3:52, reflecting on the town’s past segregation while highlighting the significance of people like Mr Day helping create welcoming and inclusive community spaces. You can watch the NITV segment here.
Mr Day has also supported visits from Pulse Alive Group, where students from across the state take part in cultural, song and dance activities.

Mr Day said working at MAAC has also shown him the positive impact community venues can have on health, wellbeing and connection.
Through Community Network Forums, the venue has strengthened local connections, including establishing a relationship with Maayu Mali Rehabilitation Centre to support participants through group fitness sessions and gym use.
Mr Day has also been involved in a range of community initiatives and partnerships, including supporting a free community day celebrating the completion of renovations and an Open Day in partnership with local job provider Joblink Plus Moree.
“Moree Plains Shire Council paused all entry fees from 10am to 7pm for the renovation celebration day, which brought a fantastic turnout from the community,” Mr Day said.
“We also partnered with Joblink Plus Moree for their Open Day, with entry, waterslide access and food covered for attendees. It was a busy but incredibly rewarding day for the whole team.”
“We’ve got an amazing team here at MAAC and I’m grateful to be part of it. The support from the team, management and community has meant a lot to me,” Mr Day concluded.

Venue Manager Roh Taylor (far right) said Mr Day’s positivity and genuine care for people has made a lasting impact across the venue.
“Mr Day brings a whole lot of personality and positivity to our team and venue,” Roh said.
“The way he connects with patrons and creates a welcoming atmosphere has had a really positive impact on both the team and the wider community.”
