“Exercise is a natural and effective anti-anxiety treatment. It relieves tension and stress, boosts physical and mental energy, and enhances wellbeing through the release of endorphins.” – helpguide.org
Belgravia Leisure’s mission is to connect our communities to leisure, which has proved a little more challenging than usual during this global pandemic. However, through our Home Fitness Network at-home workouts and the support of our teams online, we have been able to continue to connect with our communities.
Luke from The Yarra Centre has shown great leadership skills by partnering with Bec Filliponi – Therapeutic Services in supporting the community with movement and wellbeing tips.
Below is a video of Luke explaining the benefits of exercise and mindfulness on our mental health and wellbeing as well as some ways we can exercise during lockdown.
Luke recommends that during lockdown we utilise our one hour of exercise outdoors every day. “Taking your dog for a walk or going for a bike ride outdoors can bring a little normalcy back into our routines,” says Luke.
You don’t have to spend hours exercising but if we can make moving our bodies apart of our everyday routines it will not only improve our physical wellbeing but our mental health as well.
