15 years ago, Tomaree Aquatic Centre in NSW’s Salamander Bay held a Mums & Bubs class which proved to be the beginning of an extraordinary journey for a young girl with a passion to swim.
By the time Ebony Nix was 8 years old, she was ready to join Tomaree Aquatic Centre’s Squad Program under the tutelage of Swim Coach Tom Davis.
Ebony’s persistence and dedication in the pool has led to many amazing races from her local school through to national level. She is an inspiration to younger swimmers at Tomaree and Nelson Bay Swim Club, often demonstrating drills and stroke correction. Having had the same coach for almost eight years, along with the support of her parents, has given Ebony the confidence, determination and help to keep her passion alive.
In Australia, Ebony is now placed:
- 12th for the 50m Free
- 16th for the 100m Free
- 15th for the 50m Back
- 22nd for the 100m Back
- 17th for the 200m Back
- 10th for the 100m Butterfly
These results are outstanding!
Ebony was also part of the NSW National Under 16yrs Relay team, winning gold and setting a Queensland all comers record. She was selected after qualifying for a position in the NSW team for a week of intense training for elite swimmers.
Congratulations Ebony on your achievements; we look forward to watching you achieve your swimming dreams.
