Every April and October, we shine the spotlight on Workplace Health and Safety at Belgravia Leisure. This month, our focus is on the following safety topics:
- Heart Health and the importance of having a defibrillator at all our venues
- Safety Working with Hazardous Chemicals (pools and cleaning)
Keep an eye out for your invitation to a very special edition of CEO Live, where we’ll be speaking to a celebrity guest about why every venue should have a defibrillator and how to improve visibility of this very important safety tool.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers’ Memorial Day
Wednesday the 28th of April is World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers’ Memorial Day. The day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of work health and safety issues.
According to Safe Work Australia, “the latest finalised data shows that in 2018, 183 workers were fatally injured at work”. On World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we are all encouraged to reflect on how to prevent work-related occupational diseases, deaths, injuries and illnesses. It is also a day to remember those who have died from a work-related injury or illness.
This year, the theme for World Day for Safety and Health at Work is Anticipate, prepare and respond to crises and invest in resilient OHS systems. We can all do our part by undertaking risk management that is planned, systematic and covers all reasonably forseeeable hazards and associated risks.
