The vaccination rates in Australia and New Zealand have ramped up dramatically as a result of the most recent wave of COVID-19 sweeping across both countries. Nearly 40% of Australians and over 30% of New Zealanders are now fully vaccinated against infection.
While the vaccination rollouts are rapidly gaining momentum, we understand that some of our employees are unable, ineligible or still uncertain about getting vaccinated. We respect the views of every Belgravia employee with regards to vaccination and encourage you to voice your thoughts.
Take the COVID-19 Vaccination Employee Survey
It’s important that we understand the view of our teams as we explore future COVID-19 policies. If you haven’t already filled in the COVID-19 Vaccination Employee Survey, please do so before the closing date Tuesday 14 September 2021. Your participation will help us shape Belgravia Leisure’s COVID-19 policies.
For our employees who are eligible for vaccination, we have put together some information below regarding the benefits of getting vaccinated.
Why should I get vaccinated?
Vaccination is the most effective way to protect against infectious diseases. It has proven effective against the flu and has completely eradicated diseases such as polio and rubella.
Through getting vaccinated, we can all do our part in protecting ourselves and helping to protect the whole community against COVID-19 infection.
Vaccination reduces the spread of COVID-19
COVID-19 spreads rapidly. We have seen the escalating case numbers throughout Australia and New Zealand. As more people get vaccinated in the community, the slower the disease will spread.
The Australian Department of Health talks about “herd immunity”, which means that when enough people are vaccinated, the spread of disease and potential health risk will be reduced. Herd immunity can only be achieved when a significant proportion of people in the community have been vaccinated.
Vaccination is an important step on the path to COVID-normal
COVID-19 is like the uninvited guest who has stayed beyond their welcome. Unfortunately, we must accept that the virus is here for the long term. The only way to begin our path to COVID-normal is to reach a level of vaccination where we can begin to move safely and freely through the community with a lower risk of infection.
Let’s do our part to help our communities through social distancing, mask-wearing where required, observing COVID-safe measures and getting vaccinated if we are eligible, so we can help to stop the spread of COVID-19.
