The beginning of September brought the start of a new season and warmer days for This Girl Can Week 2022.
This Girl Can Victoria celebrates and supports Victorian women to embrace physical activity in a way that suits them. Whether it’s a little or a lot, what matters is getting some movement into your day.
While many of us know that exercising is important for our physical and mental health, that doesn’t change the fact that half of us aren’t getting enough exercise each week.
Yarrambat Park Golf Course, with the support of the Nillumbik Shire Council and the Belgravia Foundation, hosted week-long activities for females of its local community.
Yarrambat Park Golf Course received a This Girl Can Grant from Nillumbik Shire Council and through the support of the venue’s valued partner, females living within the Shire were able to access free clinics, the golf course and driving range.
“Receiving the grant from Nillumbik Shire Council has greatly served women of all ages in our community to access golf as first-time participants,” said Venue Manager, Matt Weisheit.
“Grants such as this, in conjunction with the Belgravia Foundation, enable our team to provide a wide range of activations where participants can learn the basics of golf and take those skills to the fairways.”
Throughout This Girl Can Week, the venue hosted two free clinics with PGA Professional Aaron Attwell and PGA Associate Matt Allen. In addition to learning how to play golf, the fairways were open to all women with unlimited golf, a free driving range bucket and coffee upon their arrival.
“It’s great to be a part of This Girl Can Week each year,” said PGA Professional Aaron Attwell. “The social connections made throughout the clinics can last a lifetime. We are really proud to see so many women wanting to be a part of the week-long celebrations.”
Yarrambat Park Golf Course welcomes everyone, regardless of gender, background, culture and playing abilities – everyone is welcome.
