As we approach International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th, it’s a moment to reflect on the strides towards gender equality and inclusion while acknowledging the journey ahead. At Belgravia Leisure, we’re proud to support and celebrate the accomplishments of our female staff, who make up over 60% of our workforce.
International Women’s Day serves as a timely reminder of the importance of creating a world where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered. It’s a time to celebrate the achievements of women throughout history and to work towards greater gender equality not just on March 8th but every day.
Below are just some of the inspirational women doing incredible things at Belgravia Leisure.
Kia Naylor our Allied Health Manager
Kia has been instrumental in supporting the strategy, growth and operations of our Allied Health services, particularly in Exercise Physiology. With over 18 years of experience as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Kia has excelled in clinical, business and executive leadership roles within the health industry.
Victoria Goodwin Barlow, Group Health & Wellbeing Manager, describes Kia as an inspirational leader, noting her remarkable tenacity and vision in managing a start-up in Immersion Therapy. “I have the privilege of working with Kia whose dedication to enhancing our business is evident in the significant improvements she has implemented in the B Active- Exercise Physiology. Beyond her professional achievements, Kia embodies the spirit of a true super mum, balancing her responsibilities to her children, Lucas and Amelia.
“Despite the demands of her career and personal life, she always manages to carve out time for her horses and a quick workout. Kia has faced her health challenges head-on, displaying immense courage and resilience making Kia an extremely inspirational leader,” Victoria concluded.
Wanda Grime, Swim School Co-Ordinator and Swim Teacher at Portland Leisure & Aquatic Centre, VIC
Wanda Grime, a Swim School Coordinator and Swim Teacher at Portland is a shining example of dedication and excellence in her field.
In 2023, Wanda’s exceptional commitment to swimming and water safety earned her nominations for AUSTSWIM and Aquatics & Recreation Victoria (ARV) Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety of the Year. Winning both the state and national titles was not only a career milestone but a testament to her unwavering passion for her work.
“I teach because I love what I do, but to be recognised for that feels very special.” Wanda shared. Her dedication to her profession is matched only by her desire to inspire the next generation, especially her daughter, by showcasing the incredible achievements of women.
Wanda’s perspective on International Women’s Day is to celebrate and acknowledge the incredible achievements of women.
“It’s an opportunity to show my children and especially my daughter the amazing things that women can and do achieve no matter where they come from or what they started with. To continue to highlight equality for women from all walks of life to see a better future for all,” Wanda said.

Wishy and the Liverpool team received recognition with the Social Impact Award at the 2023 ARI NSW Awards of Excellence and spoke at this year’s Belgravia Foundation Inspiration Breakfast — demonstrating the profound impact of her work.
Wishy’s unwavering dedication to making a meaningful impact in her community and inspiring positive change makes her a standout leader worth celebrating ahead of International Women’s Day.
As Wishy so beautifully puts it, “International Women’s Day is a celebration of women’s achievements and a reminder of the ongoing fight for gender equality. It’s about honouring the progress we’ve made and committing to creating a more inclusive world for all women.”
Liv Stephenson, Dubbo Area Manager
Liv Stephenson is our dedicated Dubbo Area Manager who exemplifies resilience and commitment in her role. Her love for the community shines through as she shared with the Wellington Times her admiration for the staff base, the community and the challenges they face.
Liv Stephenson is not only a dynamic leader but a strong advocate for empowering women and young people in managerial positions.
“I have grown up in a house full of girls and I know how influential and fantastic women can be as leaders. I think we bring a certain level of empathy and understanding that I think I’ve sometimes misunderstood and overlooked.
“When you think of a manager, you think of a male or when you think of a doctor, you think of a male, when you think of a dentist, you think of a male, you don’t think of a female,” she said.
For Liv, International Women’s Day holds personal significance, representing a day to celebrate the achievements of women and inspire future generations.
