Get to know our Contact Centre Team Leader, Kaye Kondarios. Kaye started out as a swim school teacher, continue reading to see what she attributes her career progression to.
When and where did you start working with Belgravia Leisure?
My career with Belgravia started about five or so years ago. My youngest was about four months old when I decided to become a swim school teacher.
I did the Austswim course, and Gail had been the educator on that day. Gail then offered me to do my hours at Watermarc. I quickly picked up more and more shifts and just stayed there, as I loved what I did. I loved teaching kids a life skill and gaining a relationship with the kids and their families.
How has your career progressed?
My career has progressed quickly. I was only teaching for about two years before I stepped into the role of deck supervisor at Watermarc.
This took on a whole new level of learning which I love. I was deck supervisor for about three years before I got approached by Sarah Podesta with an exciting new role at the contact centre. I made the decision to move to the contact centre in February this year as it was going to suit my family’s needs better. Then in May this year, I applied for the team leader position and was successful in getting the role.
What do you attribute your career progression to?
I attribute my career progression to the dedication and hard work, plus proving to myself that I can do the job and gain new skills at the same time. As well as just wanting to be a good role model for my children and show them that if you work hard, you can achieve anything or be anything you want to be.
Why is excellent customer service important to you?
Excellent customer service is everything. It helps build relationships with the customer/parents and know that they can trust you and come to you when they have any questions.
I had great relationships with parents and their children, and I always loved to talk to parents on deck and see how they are going and finding things. I am what you would call a social butterfly, I just love talking.
Do you have any career advice for anyone wanting to follow a similar career path?
I would say follow your heart and don’t listen to anybody else. Also, don’t doubt yourself. I was so close to not taking this team leader role due to listening to other people’s opinions. I am so glad I didn’t listen to them. I love what I do and the challenges it brings. My team are amazing also, which helps coming to work every day.
Anything else you would like to add?
I am so glad to be apart of something new and exciting. I am really happy with what we have already achieved at the contact centre. I can see the potential of what the contact centre can do for the company in the future.
