Despite the current COVID-19 restrictions, our country showed respect and commemorated the day for the fallen ANZAC soldiers from home in self-isolation. We saw people commemorate virtually and acknowledge the day in any way possible.
Park Managers Alan and Margaret Otts went to amazing lengths to work with their local community, RSL guidelines, Police and Queensland Department of Health to provide a unique magical moment to guests currently at the park under essential traveller restrictions. Instead of our campers standing at the end of their driveways they stood at the end of their campsites.
A beautiful focal point on the waterfront with candles, rosemary, Australian flag, kiwi and a wreath.
One of our campers made the wreath and the poppy/rosemary badges for everyone to wear. Another camper organised the music which included The Last Post, The Rouse, The two National Anthems, True Blue and other Aussie icons while another camper took photos. A few words were spoken and The Ode was read.
It was a magical morning and all the campers were thrilled to be able to participate whilst practising social distancing.
