When and where did you start working with Belgravia Leisure?
I’d never heard of Belgravia Leisure, but I liked the idea of working in a fitness environment. In 2008 I applied for a role as a membership consultant at the Windy Hill Fitness Centre. Kris Miller and Anthony McIntosh conducted the interview, and I was lucky enough to get the job!
How has your career progressed?
After a couple of years selling memberships at Windy Hill, I progressed into a membership coordinator at the Coburg Leisure Centre. From there I did one year with the YMCA, and then WaterMarc as a membership manager.
Next stop was Albany Creek Leisure Centre in Queensland as a Centre Manager then I was back to Melbourne after three years with a short stint in Sydney.
I’m currently the VIC/TAS Customer Experience Manager and acting in the Group Guest Experience Role.
What do you attribute your career progression to?
People – Along the journey, I’ve been extremely fortunate to have a mix of great leaders all with very different leadership styles.
Why is excellent customer service important to you?
Without customers, we don’t exist. Our purpose is to connect community to leisure and to be successful, we need to make it easy and enjoyable for people to do so.
Any career advice for anyone wanting to follow a similar career path?
If you have aspirations to progress in your career, in my opinion, you need to put yourself out there, back yourself and don’t settle for what’s comfortable.
