Find Your 30 – 30 days for $30
Belgravia Leisure is supporting the ‘Find Your 30’ campaign with a special offer of 30 days for $30, giving new members access to a range of gym, swim, or play services, indoors or outdoors, in their own community.
‘Find Your 30’ is Sport Australia’s national call to action designed to help Australians find 30 minutes of heart rate-raising physical activity every day.
Belgravia Leisure centres make it easy to find 30 minutes of physical activity, with a range of options under one roof – from gyms and group fitness spaces to swimming pools, water slides and sports arenas.
Please Note: the 30 days for $30 offer is not available or accessible prior to 26th December 2019.
People can find their 30 over the festive period
“The 30 days for $30 offer gives new members an opportunity over the festive period to find activities that suit them and make them a permanent part of a healthier lifestyle,” said Sharon Masson, Group Marketing Manager of Belgravia Leisure.
“Take just one centre, the Whitlam Leisure Centre in Liverpool, NSW. There you can find your 30 minutes by swimming laps, doing aqua aerobics, training in the gym, doing classes such as BodyPump, playing basketball and netball, and more, all in the same location.”
Fiona Boughton, Deputy General Manager for Marketing at Sport Australia, said the ‘Find Your 30’ campaign aims to increase physical activity levels across Australia.
“We want to raise awareness about the importance of sport and physical activity because we want all Australians to benefit from the health and enjoyment it can bring to their lives,” Fiona said.
“Find Your 30 aligns with Australia’s Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines that recommend adults need a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity per day, and children 60 minutes. Australia is also committed to the World Health Organisation target to reduce inactivity by 15 per cent by 2030.”
Targeted at parents with children
The ‘Find Your 30’ campaign is for all Australians, although it is focused on parents with children aged up to 18 years.
“Half of Australia’s adults and eight in 10 children are not getting a sufficient amount of physical activity each day. Active parents can drive their own energy levels higher but also positively influence their children. Our lives are becoming increasingly sedentary and so this is about getting moving as a nation and making a generational change.”
Everyone benefits
‘Find Your 30’ also helps parents and children find ways to do sport and physical activity together.
Great examples of this include indoor or outdoor recreational swimming at Belgravia Leisure aquatic facilities, going to the waterslides and splash zones at WaterMarc and Aquarena in Melbourne or Sugarworld in Cairns.
“Activity can be more than dedicated exercise, it can also be about enjoying physical activity in social settings with friends and family. The benefits are enormous,” Fiona said.
So where and how can you find your 30?
Staff at your local Belgravia Leisure centre can talk to you about the various activities on offer, while the Find Your 30 page on the sportaus.gov.au website has lots of tips on how to get more active.
Fiona points out your 30 minutes of daily activity doesn’t have to be done all at once.
“Make this attainable for you. It doesn’t have to be a solid block of physical activity – it can be 5 minutes here or 10 minutes there and building to 30 minutes. It can be something as simple as taking the stairs instead of the escalator and looking at ways to introduce things like walking meetings in the workplace,” Fiona said.
“There’s also great benefit in joining a gym, community centre, sports team or club in terms of social connections, general mental health and wellbeing. Making physical activity a priority every day is key.”
