With falls in later life still a leading cause of injury-related hospitalisations and death in Australia, many Perth seniors are seeking out spaces to strengthen their health, wellbeing and confidence.
A 78-year-old local, Virginia Milner has been regularly training in the Active Seniors program at Loftus Recreation Centre. Virginia claims the program has helped prevent a potentially life-altering fall, enabling her to remain active and boosting her resilience.
Virginia recently injured her knee, hand and cheek, but credits her training and fitness at the gym over the last four years helped her recover much faster than anticipated.
With no broken bones and no sprains, Virginia was able to return to the gym and her normal life in just one week.
“The gym has helped me become young, healthy and fit,” Virginia said.
“I’m so grateful and optimistic about my physical health despite my fall. Thank you to the team for the support and training I have received over the years.”
