Samer better known as Sam has been with Belgravia Leisure for the last six months. Sam has worked as a Swim Instructor and Lifeguard at Splash-Devonport before moving into his current role as the Venue Manager at Smithton Wellbeing Indoor Recreation & Leisure (SWIRL) in Tasmania, managed by Belgravia Leisure on behalf of Circular Head Council.
Sam said some of the highlights of working with Belgravia Leisure have been the support from everyone once he joined the management team. “It is great to know that you are within a big organisation where there is room to grow.”
What is your favourite and least favourite thing about your career?
“My favourite thing is working with people whose skills are foreign to mine, it allows me to keep on learning. My least favourite thing is not being able to achieve goals,” Sam said.
Where do you see yourself in the next three to five years?
“In three years, I see myself managing a bigger venue for Belgravia Leisure. In five years, I see myself as an area manager overlooking more than three venues,” Sam said.
What are three things you’re most passionate about in life and why?
“Swimming as I grew up around pools and swimming has always been a big part of my life. It gave me the chance to travel to many places and helped me to set goals and work hard for them at a young age. I’m passionate about always learning, about businesses, markets, growing industries and history. I believe learning is the key to success.
“As well as hiking and surfing. Being in nature helps me to reset and gives me positive energy to carry on and overcome any challenge.
“I’m grateful for being part of the Belgravia Leisure team and excited to work on projects that will help our communities,” Sam concluded.
