Gwen has worked with Belgravia Leisure for almost five years. Gwen has worked as a Health Club Coordinator and is now the Assistant Venue Manager at Michael Clarke Recreation Centre, managed by Belgravia Leisure on behalf of Liverpool City Council. Gwen also provides South West NSW Marketing Support.
When asked what some of her highlights of working with Belgravia Leisure have been Gwen said, “Being able to connect with the local community and members is definitely one of the many highlights of working with Belgravia Leisure.”
How have you and your team been adjusting to our new Covid normal?
“During Covid, I’ve learnt to be resilient in the face of adversities. During the first lockdown and first easing of restriction, I was still at Auburn Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre and we took to the challenge.
“We learned to use Microsoft bookings and conducted various outdoor setting type group fitness to ensure that we are still able to move with the community during this difficult time.
“Personally, I’ve learnt that every setback has its own silver lining, we always learn something from our challenges, as a result, we started live-streaming during the second lockdown in addition to our outdoor sessions,” Gwen said.
What is your favourite and least favourite thing about your career?
“The fitness and active side definitely, I don’t think there’s one particular thing that I dislike about my career. Working with Belgravia Leisure has given me a lot of opportunities to learn, grow and challenge myself,” Gwen said.
Where do you see yourself in the next three to five years?
“Becoming an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and potentially becoming NSW Marketing Support to assist with the rollout of marketing campaigns,” Gwen said.
What are three things you’re most passionate about in life and why?
“Helping people move more efficiently and effectively. Fitness and bouldering excites me, there’s so much to know and learn. I’m also really passionate about travelling and seeing different countries and experiencing different cultures,” Gwen concluded.
