In what seems like a blink of an eye, Bacchus Marsh’s MARC Stadium has celebrated its first anniversary since opening, having already made an impact on thousands of locals through a range of sports, dancing and programs for all.
On Wednesday, 17 January 2025, the team celebrated the stadium’s first anniversary with a community event, bringing locals together for a day of fun, fitness and connection. From 11am to 2pm, the stadium was buzzing with free activities such as basketball, netball, pickleball, futsal and Dr. Dish sessions, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The Local Lions Club added to the celebration with free sausages, which were a hit with the whole family. The day’s highlight was a half-court shooting competition, offering a $50 voucher prize.
Venue Manager Stephane Tabardin said, “While no one managed to sink the shot this time, the cheers and laughs made it one of the most memorable moments of the day. It was fantastic to see the community turn up to support the event, have fun and connect.

Over the past year, the stadium has become a hub for local athletes, fitness enthusiasts and community members, hosting numerous events and leagues that have brought people together.
December 2024 was particularly special, as both the men’s and women’s basketball teams reached the finals for the first time in 10 years. The men’s team also made it to the semifinals of the VIC Country Basketball League. These achievements reflect the growing strength and talent within the local sports community, something the stadium has proudly supported and nurtured.
In March 2025, the stadium will host the Junior Country League competition, offering a weekend of exciting basketball action, with teams from all over the state coming together to compete. This event will further solidify the stadium’s role as a key player in fostering the strong basketball spirit in the region.
“We are proud to celebrate one year of bringing people together and promoting an active, inclusive community. A big thank you to the Lions Club and our team for making it all happen and for a wonderful year. We look forward to many more years of health and connection,” Stephane concluded.
