With more than 780 completions in just two weeks since launch, CultureWise is already delivering measurable impact with team member knowledge to welcome, support and include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples increasing by 23%.
The free, self-paced training module is quickly emerging as a critical education tool for Belgravia Leisure and the broader leisure industry, lifting awareness, confidence and cultural capability across aquatics, recreation, fitness, sport and tourism.
Early results show:
- A 23% increase in knowledge to welcome, support and include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples into leisure
- A 20% increase in awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture
- An almost 18% increase in confidence to deliver inclusive experiences
- A 13% uplift in confidence to adapt programs and environments
Participants have also rated the module highly, with post-survey scores above 8.8 out of 10 across quality, accessibility, navigation and interactivity.
Developed by Belgravia Leisure in partnership with PathHunting and supported by Belgravia Foundation, CultureWise is designed to build practical understanding and cultural safety in just 30 minutes, making it accessible for teams across the entire sector.
Belgravia Leisure Group Manager Access and Inclusion, Damian Gorman, said the early results highlight both the impact of the program and the opportunity ahead.
“It’s encouraging to see such strong improvements in confidence and knowledge so early, and that 100% of our leadership team are among those who have completed the training,” he said.
“But there are many thousands of people across our industry who would benefit – we are aiming for over 1000 completions in the coming week. I encourage anyone working in the sector to take 30 minutes to complete the training, as creating welcoming and culturally safe environments is critical if we want to remove barriers to participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”
Belgravia Leisure is also strengthening its commitment to reconciliation by participating in Reconciliation Australia’s 2026 RAP Workplace Reconciliation Barometer, ensuring future progress is guided by employee insights and lived experience.
