A significant transformation is planned for Erindale Leisure Centre in Wanniassa, with a $1.1 million ACT government investment supporting immediate venue upgrades and long-term planning to modernise the community destination.
These plans establish Erindale as Belgravia Leisure’s flagship Allied Health Hub, supporting people at every stage of their health and wellbeing journey.
Managed by Belgravia Leisure since August 2025, the Tuggeranong venue will receive a substantial refurbishment of its health club and fitness facilities, creating a more accessible destination for people of all ages and abilities to move more.
Driven by extensive community feedback, the upgrades respond directly to the needs and priorities identified by local members in the ACT. The project aligns with the ACT Government Wellbeing Framework and reflects a shared commitment to improving health outcomes through accessible community infrastructure.
Investing in preventative health and wellbeing for all
Belgravia Leisure CEO Nick Cox said:
“The team at Erindale is incredibly excited to deliver on our commitment to members and the wider community through these significant upgrades. We’ve created a modern, inclusive space that makes it easier for all to improve their wellbeing and access the support they need to live healthier lives.
“Preventative health and community wellbeing have been at the heart of every decision throughout this project. Alongside new fitness equipment, dedicated training and recovery spaces and expanded group exercise offerings, the upgraded venue will become Belgravia Leisure’s flagship Allied Health Hub in the ACT, bringing a range of health and wellbeing services together under one roof.
“Our goal is simple. We want to help more Canberrans improve their health and wellbeing through movement, connection and expert support and we’re proud to provide a venue that can make that possible.”

A modern health club designed for today’s community
The upgraded health club will feature a complete interior refresh of equipment, flooring, lighting and finishes and the addition of a steam room, creating a more welcoming and functional environment for members and visitors. Accessibility improvements will also see the installation of automatic doors.
Key additions proposed as part of the project include: a dedicated functional training zone featuring sled tracks, a four-cell training rig and wall-ball targets, SkiErgs and Woodway treadmills; Olympic lifting racks and specialised strength training equipment; touchscreen cardio equipment; rowers, a dedicated stretching and mobility area; an Evolt body scanner to support goal setting and progress tracking and approximately 600 square metres of new flooring across strength, turf and foyer spaces.
The improvements are expected to boost membership growth and enhance the overall fitness experience for current and future users.
More opportunities to move, train and thrive
As part of the redevelopment, members will also gain access to a dedicated Cycle Studio featuring 14 Schwinn indoor bikes and an expanded timetable of cycle classes.
A purpose-built Reformer Pilates Studio is proposed, incorporating 16 reformer beds and virtual reformer technology. The new space is expected to support approximately 20 additional reformer classes each week, creating greater opportunities for participation and helping more people access low-impact options for strength-building exercise.
The upgraded space will also support more than 20 additional gym floor group exercise classes, including specialised programs designed for teenagers, seniors and Connect30 participants.
Bolstering community recovery and wellbeing
Recognising the growing importance of recovery in overall health outcomes, the proposal includes a dedicated recovery and wellness space designed to complement exercise and physical activity.
The area is proposed to include massage chairs, compression recovery equipment, percussion recovery devices and a dedicated stretching and mobility space to greater support recovery, injury prevention and long-term wellbeing.
Establishing the ACT’s flagship Allied Health Hub
The proposed flagship Allied Health Hub will provide integrated support designed to help individuals improve quality of life, manage chronic conditions and maintain independence.
Proposed services include physiotherapy, exercise physiology, occupational therapy, speech pathology, mental health services and dietetics.
The hub will feature dedicated consultation rooms and specialised assessment equipment, supporting evidence-based programs including falls and balance training, cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, oncology rehabilitation and clinical reformer programs.
The integrated model reflects a growing focus on preventative healthcare, enabling community members to access exercise, recovery and clinical support in a single location.
Community voices helping shape the future
The ACT Government have invested $197,000 in smaller capital improvements identified directly by members, ensuring community voices continue to play an active role in shaping the venue’s future.
The funding builds on more than $350,000 in improvements completed since mid-2025, including upgrades to water quality systems, LED lighting and changeroom facilities.
Chris Steel MLA, Minister for Sport and Recreation said:
“We know how much the Tuggeranong community values Erindale. That’s why this investment protects the future of this vital community asset while delivering upgrades that will make a big difference for members and patrons of the venue.”
As planning progresses, the upgrades will help ensure Erindale continues to deliver lasting social, health and wellbeing benefits for years to come.
