The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and carers. Essentially, the NDIS provides financial support to offset the impact a disability has on a person’s ability to engage in life.
The NDIS helps people with disability to access mainstream services, community services and receive reasonable and necessary funded supports. Leisure centres are categorised as community services and supports to assist people to participate in activities such as aquatics, sports and fitness have been approved for funding.
What does this mean for Belgravia Leisure and the communities in which we work?
Belgravia Leisure has been approved to provide exercise physiology, sports coaching (including all sports, aquatics and recreation) and personal training.
Our centres will work actively within their communities and provide information, links, supports and services that will assist people (and their families and care givers) with a disability to progress toward their life goals, with a focus on health and wellbeing, social connection, community participation and employment.
