Demi Konstantilakis is proof that you don’t have to follow a traditional pathway within Belgravia to grow your career and achieve your goals.
Demi first started working with Belgravia Leisure in 2012 as a Customer Service Officer at Windy Hill Fitness Centre. She later progressed to Membership Manager at Ascot Vale Leisure Centre.
Group Manager People and Culture, Mark Maybury explained, “Our contract at Ascot Vale Leisure Centre had ended, but it did not mean that Demi’s time with us needed to.”
“I was looking for someone to join the recruitment team and thought Demi had proven herself to be a talented individual in her previous role. It wasn’t important to me that Demi had not held a leadership role before. What was important was that she was willing to give it a shot and learn something new,” Mark concluded.
When asked what she attributes her career progression to, Demi responded, “I attribute it to the amazing leaders and managers who helped me recognise my strengths and worked with me on my weaknesses.”
“To me, a great leader is someone who is willing to work alongside you and provide an environment that is encouraging and allows you to improve and grow and that’s what I’ve experienced with Belgravia Leisure,” Demi explained.
“This kind of leadership allows individuals to be heard and to be able to provide honest contributions. It creates a team with diverse strengths and well-rounded skills,” Demi said.
Demi offered her leadership advice for current and future team members of Belgravia explaining, “You should never be afraid of jumping into a new role. Take a leap of faith and partake in the opportunities offered at Belgravia Leisure. It might be scary at first but you will never be left alone, you will have supportive leaders to guide you.”
