Tell us a bit about yourself and your previous role/s if any.
For the past few years, I have been working in the Victorian aquatic industry peak body, Aquatics & Recreation Victoria (ARV). This role gave me a great opportunity to see the impact our facilities have on the community.
Prior to working at ARV I held various facility management roles and had a specific focus on aquatic programs. My infinity with the aquatic and leisure industry started like most of us, back in high school where I began as a swim teacher at my local pool in Bacchus Marsh.
What are you enjoying the most about your position so far?
Getting back into a large team and working closely with the different departments.
How do you incorporate health and fitness into your lifestyle?
I have always been a keen sportsperson. Playing whatever sport I could to keep the social life alive. Having recently retired I now get my exercise through water sports and running along the tracks of Melbourne.
How do you manage a healthy work-life balance?
For me, a healthy work-life balance starts with working in an environment that you enjoy. I try to find the fun and enjoyment in my day to day work which helps remove the need to actively generate a work-life balance.
Having said that, I do like to use my time away from work to explore and be social. Whether that’s exploring the local restaurants or sporting events, or taking time to travel and visit areas I haven’t been.
What are three things you’re most passionate about in life and why?
- My Family – this one is self-explanatory.
- The Bulldogs – because September/October 2016 was the greatest month of my life.
- Travelling – either locally or abroad, I love the education, the experiences and stories that come about from travelling to different places and seeing different cultures.
Which CLEAR Value resonates the most with you and why?
Leadership – I have had the privilege of being exposed to great leaders throughout my life and I have seen and experienced first hand the positive impact a great leader can have on people and places. I continually look to improve my own leadership qualities so that I can hopefully have the same impact on others.
