GOswim is synonymous with providing swimming and water safety lessons that empower students to think, discuss and decide whilst having fun in and around water.
Since 2018, Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre has embraced the local community with swimming lessons from leading teachers, creating GOswim Academy pathways for all ages.
Winter swims can be tricky for young members of our community. Many would rather be snuggled up at home on a cold afternoon than in the pool. To continue the importance of learning to swim during the colder months, GOswim friends embarked on a Waterways Adventure and invited little and young swimmers to join in the fun.
GOswim friends created a journey from coastal to inland waterways, teaching young children the importance of staying safe in different aquatic environments. Reminding us to always keep a First Aid kit handy around the pool and sharing the safety message of ‘parents supervise, lifeguards save lives’.
“The Waterways Adventure journey is all about engaging children during the winter months to continue their swim lessons,” said Jake Thurm, Guest Experience Manager at Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre.
“As children attend their weekly swimming lesson, they are provided with an exclusive Waterway Adventure sticker to add to their collector’s booklet. With eight stickers to collect, the children love making sure they don’t miss out.”
Annie Campbell, Customer Service Officer said, “The kids absolutely love getting their stickers. The characters have become a huge part of their swimming journey and it’s an impactful resource to provide our community. Not only are children learning the importance of attending swimming lessons, but they are also expanding their knowledge about how to keep safe in all waterways.”
