For its third consecutive year, Keilor Public Golf Course in Keilor North, Victoria, offered Golf Australia’s national Get into Golf Program for seniors in the local community.
Get into Golf Program for Seniors
Conducted in small groups, the Get into Golf Senior Program is designed for those over 55 who have an interest in giving golf a go in an enthusiastic social setting.
Throughout the six-week program, Keilor Public Golf Course offered unlimited access to the golf course and driving range; and three fortnightly senior clinics with its resident PGA Professional.
“The senior’s program is core to who we are at Keilor Public Golf Course.
Focusing on the seven pillars of inclusion, Belgravia Leisure and the team at Keilor continue to provide opportunities and access for all,” said Venue Manager, Jack McDonald (pictured below).
Golf is beneficial for improving health and staying connected with others. Enjoying the outdoors, the sport can be played all year round as a single player, partnered or group.
“The social connections made on the fairways are all a part of our Get into Golf program,” added Jack. “Many seniors in our community visit the golf course and it may be the only social interaction they have. As a team, we ensure our seniors feel welcome and provide opportunities where they can feel their best selves.
“Keilor Public Golf Course sees many inter-generational golfers hit the fairways. There is always someone to have a round of golf with. Whether it’s a post-round coffee or a chat on the practice green, our venue is proud of its inclusiveness and the programs it provides throughout the year,” Jack concluded.
