Meet Tanya, the Venue Manager of Ferny Hills Aquatic Centre, managed by Belgravia Leisure, on behalf of Moreton Bay Regional Council. Tanya has over a decade of experience in the aquatic industry, with various roles, including learn to swim teaching, coaching, education, and program management.
Tanya’s journey in the industry started as a local mum taking her children to swimming lessons, a sport she enjoyed in her youth, “I worked with the most amazing individuals who loved teaching. Becoming a teacher offered me great work-life balance with school pick-ups and drop-offs and was something I was extremely passionate about,” Tanya explained.
Combined with her business and human resources background, Tanya developed skills and additional qualifications that led her to managing a health and well-being venue and team.
“Understanding teaching helps me support and develop my team. I have qualifications in babies & toddlers, competitive strokes and disability support. My role also includes presenting for Swim Coaches and Teachers Australia.
“One of the best parts of my role is connecting with the community. We are passionate about access, inclusion and ensuring everybody feels welcome at all Belgravia Leisure managed venues. Learning to swim is a lifesaving skill you have for life, and it’s never too late to learn,” Tanya concluded.
