Mylene Nguyen Vo is our Aquatic Services Manager at Keilor East Leisure Centre with an amazing journey with Belgravia Leisure.
Mylene’s journey with us began in October 2021 when she joined as a Swim Teacher. However, she was quickly recognised for her amazing customer service and transitioned into our Guest Experience Team, eventually becoming the Guest Experience Manager – she didn’t even make it into the water!
After a break for maternity leave in November 2022, Mylene returned as the Aquatics Services Manager, “I have since come back into the aquatics department and now run the Swim School team and our GOswim program and I love it! There is a special connection you make with children of all ages in the water, teaching them skills that you know may one day save their life.”
Mylene is a passionate team member and a mother of four, which she says has taught her many life lessons that she uses every day in her role. She also loves her cats (she has four, one for each child she says) and appreciates the simple joys of life like good food and birthdays. Growing up in the community of Moonee Valley, and attending high school next door, she fondly remembers her childhood at the previous East Keilor Leisure Centre, her journey has certainly come full circle.
Mylene has experienced significant growth with Belgravia Leisure, which she attributes to open communication and strong management support. “We have a great team and amazing energy at KELC. I love the support our team provide, we are one team even though we have own departments, and we learn a lot from each other.”
“Sometimes it can be hard to switch off outside of work. My brain is constantly assessing numbers, class sizes, and how we can do better. It’s a double-edged sword, but I love what I do!”
Mylene hopes to guide the next generation of swim teachers and continue to build strong connections with the community.
