We are proud to have dedicated and passionate people like Graham on our team. With his background as an IT Project Manager in Melbourne’s healthcare sector, Graham brings unique skills and experience to his role as Venue Manager at Yackandandah Pool in Victoria.
Graham started with us over the last two summer seasons, in 2021 and 2022. During this time, he served as a Duty Manager and Lifeguard across several pools in the Indigo and Alpine Shires in Northeast Victoria.
Graham’s move to Yackandandah in the spring of 2021 marked a significant shift in his career and lifestyle. He embarked on a journey seeking change and a challenge. His pursuit to become a qualified lifeguard stemmed from a genuine desire to contribute to his local community.
Graham’s transition from an IT Project Manager to a Lifeguard is an inspiring testament that you can make a lifestyle change at any point in your life. His story underscores embracing new challenges and pursuing your passions and interests.
Opportunities for personal growth and fulfilment are limitless when we remain open to change. When asked about his favourite and least favourite aspects of his career, Graham said, “I find joy in working at outdoor pools during the summer, where I can interact with the public and my team.
“However, there’s always good with the bad and I don’t particularly enjoy cleaning the duck poo away first thing in the morning from some of the outdoor pools!”
Graham’s life revolves around three key passions. First and foremost, his close-knit family, including his two adult sons in Melbourne. Health and fitness, both physical and mental, are another important aspect of Graham’s life. He recognises the critical role they play in ensuring a long and happy life. Lastly, he emphasises the importance of spending, saving, and investing wisely to lead a content and prosperous life.
As for his future plans, Graham is content with working in Venue/Duty Manager and Lifeguard roles. Graham is content with his current career path and the fulfilling work he does within the community.
Graham expressed, “I appreciate the opportunity that Belgravia Leisure has given me to work in roles I would never have previously considered. Many people over 60 and even 50 can have problems getting jobs and this is obviously not a constraint that applies at Belgravia Leisure.”
We are privileged to have such dedicated team members supporting us in our mission to ensure everyone in our communities is connected to leisure.
