After Belgravia Leisure took over management of Dubbo Pools, Liv Stephenson put her hand up to support the transition. What was supposed to be a few weeks turned into a permanent role as our Area Manager of Dubbo, Geurie and Wellington pools. 

Liv shared with the Wellington Times how she found herself captivated by the community, “I came here and fell in love with it. I love the staff base, the community and the challenges that came with it. I saw so much potential for what we needed to do. I’m not shy to admit there is still so much that needs work, even though we’ve come a really long way from when we first came here.” 

Having joined Belgravia Leisure in 2019 as a group fitness instructor and customer service officer in Singleton, Liv’s temporary commitment evolved into a passion for making a lasting impact. Her journey within the company saw her progress into managerial roles, showcasing her commitment and dedication.

Liv Stephenson is not only a dynamic leader but a strong advocate for empowering women and young people in managerial positions. 

“I have grown up in a house full of girls and I know how influential and fantastic women can be as leaders. I think we bring a certain level of empathy and understanding and I think I’ve sometimes misunderstood and overlooked. When you think of a manager, you think of a male or when you think of a doctor, you think of a male, when you think of a dentist, you think of a male, you don’t think of a female,” she said.

Belgravia Leisure takes pride in fostering an inclusive environment under Liv’s leadership. Liv emphasises the importance of true inclusion, ensuring every part of the venue is accessible and welcoming to everyone. From pool hoist usage to raising awareness about invisible disabilities, Liv is dedicated to creating a genuinely inclusive space. 

“I love that we have some really key young people who are women as well. The idea of being able to nurture them and build them up is so exciting to me,” Liv said, emphasising her commitment to encouraging and supporting young women within Belgravia Leisure. 

With a staff base of approximately 60, Liv aspires to instill kindness and empathy in her team, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons, regardless of their background. Her vision includes plans to enhance community engagement and establish a community network forum to collaboratively address improvements at the pool. 

It is a privilege to have Liv steering the Dubbo venue towards greater heights. Her passion, dedication and vision align seamlessly with our commitment to creating vibrant and inclusive leisure experiences for all.
