What are some of your highlights/magic moments working with Belgravia Leisure?
“Over so many years, there has been so many magical moments and highlights. I’m so passionate about the leisure industry and being able to help people achieve their dreams and being able to make an impact on peoples lives in the community is definitely a highlight.
“Seeing children’s faces light up when they achieve something, even if it’s just a small accomplishment in their lives is such a magical moment. Being part of coaching a 90-year-old in swimming to achieve their goals, is also a magical moment. I also love seeing a parents faces when their babies have their first swimming lesson, it really does leave an imprint on why I love my role.
“Another highlight is when Queensland won Belgravia Leisure’s ‘Swim School of The Year’ and ‘Facility of The Year’. Not only was the celebration from the venues but from all the Belgravia Leisure team, which really did show the comradery of the team and is a credit to the great leadership from Dan Cullen, Queensland State Manager.”
How have you been impacted by COVID-19 & what have you learnt?
“The covid-19 pandemic transformed almost all facets in the work force and has had such an impact on so many lives, elevating the importance of wellness at the work place.
“Supporting our team and each other with compassion and empathy, being kind, taking time to listen to our staff and mostly to always be grateful for what we have in our lives. Our teams had to become adaptable and flexible and resilient which resulted in positive productivity from our teams.”
What is your favourite thing about your career?
“My favourite thing about my career is the most amazing people that I meet and get to work with every day, who share the same passion.
“I always tell people I love my job, it is fun, rewarding and to me, it’s not a job, but my passion. I love meeting new people and love to ensure that we set people up to succeed, which is really important as we are always able to learn from each other.
“I would not be in these positions if it wasn’t for the support and mentorship from so many people over my journey in my career including the inspirational story of Michelle Young and so many others who are not only colleagues but also friends.”
Where do you see yourself in the next 3-5 years?
“In 3 -5 years, I hope to continue along my journey growing with Belgravia Leisure. Learning new skills, attaining more knowledge and implementing different programs to help with the success of the company. As well as making an impact to help lower the drowning statistics and would love to be involved in a global expansion to other international countries of our wonderful programs and company.”
What are 3 things you’re most passionate about in life and why?
“I am passionate and driven by helping get people active, whether it’s in the sports arena, health, fitness, leisure or wellness areas, from babies to adults.
