Two Belgravia Leisure golf venues, Yarrambat Park Golf Course in Victoria and Valley View Golf Course in South Australia are proud to be playing a vital role in growing the next generation of female golfers by delivering the 2026 AGF Junior Girls Scholarship Program.
Across South Australia and Victoria, 16 junior girls aged nine to 16 received a scholarship, gaining 12 months of expert coaching, structured development programs and full venue access, as part of a nationally recognised initiative designed to level the playing field for girls in golf.
More than 4,500 girls across Australia have already benefited from the program, with over 80 per cent retaining their club membership after completing their scholarship, highlighting its long-term impact.
A thriving scholarship program for young female golfers
Launched in 2021 by the Australian Golf Foundation (AGF), the Junior Girls Scholarship Program was established to improve participation, inclusion and long-term retention of girls in golf, an area where women and girls currently account for just 20 per cent of total participation nationwide.
The scholarship provides recipients with professional coaching, a one-year junior membership and support to obtain a Golf Australia handicap, helping young players move confidently from introductory programs into regular on-course play.
Over the course of the year, scholarship recipients are supported to build their confidence and a sense of belonging within their golf clubs – key factors in reducing dropout rates among teenage girls in sport.
Growing in skill, confidence and love for the game
One nine-year-old from Valley View is one of the participants shining within the AGF scholarship team. Their mother said:
“We are so grateful to have the skill and potential in our nine-year-old daughter recognised. Through this opportunity, so many doors have opened up for her and we love seeing her skills improve each week.”
“More importantly for us, we have seen our introverted young daughter grow with a huge amount of pride in her skills and in herself. This has grown her love of this sport and given her a place in it – none of this would have happened for her this year without the expert coaching from her coach, Megan.”
Quality coaching for the next generation of young golfers
At Yarrambat Park, Head Professional Brock Gillard said the club was proud to help deliver a program that creates meaningful pathways for young girls to thrive both on and off the course.
“This program gives girls the chance to learn in a safe and welcoming environment,” Gillard said.
“By combining quality coaching with regular access to the course, we help them grow their skills while building friendships around the game. That’s how you create golfers for life.”
At Valley View, coach and program lead Megan Button said the scholarship aligns strongly with the club’s commitment to inclusive participation and community connection.
“The AGF Junior Girls Scholarship Program gives us the tools to support girls at a really important stage of their sporting journey,” Button said.
“It’s a joy to see them being active and feeling connected to others who love the game just as much.”
With Yarrambat Park and Valley View delivering the program in 2026, local communities across Victoria and South Australia will benefit from stronger female pathways, healthier participation outcomes and a more inclusive future for the game.
