The ‘Winter Women’s Golf Program’ is a creation of Belgravia Leisure’s partnership with Golf Australia and its Get into Golf programming. At Keilor Public Golf Course (KPGC), the Winter Women’s program was designed to further develop skills and social connections on and off the golf course.
PGA Pro, Scott Wearne, welcomed female beginner and experienced golfers with weekly clinics enabling each of the ladies to continue finessing their skills on the course and driving range as part of their 7-day access to our venue. Through laughter and Melbourne’s coldest Winter, the ladies have had a great time so far and learnt so much about their new hobby!
The Winter Women’s program has been the result of Belgravia Leisure’s successful partnership with Golf Australia. As a result of the program, Keilor Public Golf Course has provided women of all ages and all abilities seven days access to the course. The program also includes post-round coffees, discounted hardware and apparel, a female mentor from the golf club and of course, the opportunity to build social connections.
Reducing barriers to entry for the game of golf
Belgravia Leisure Business Development Manager Mick McKay believes that the biggest barrier to entry for picking up the game of golf is the cost of owning a set of golf clubs. He cited Yarrambat Golf Course’s recent success with the Winter Women’s Golf program, explaining, “The program aims to eliminate every barrier that a beginner faces when trying to get into golf. Not only does it include tailored clinics, full-access to golf and driving range and a golf mentor, but also cost-price equipment hire and sales.”
Yarrambat’s program has already seen some success, with participants reaching out to find out more about how they can purchase their own set of clubs. “As a result of this generous equipment offer, participants are more likely to continue their golf journey towards membership. This program has various cogs designed to promote long-term access to golf, and we are excited when we see participants utilising all of them and validating the overall program structure,” Mick added.
