Say hello to Jack Lakin, the newest face at Geelong Golf Club and a rising star in the making! Hailing from Tassie, Jack brings with him a passion for golf that’s as infectious as his smile.
Joining the club’s team, Jack is embarking on an exciting journey as part of the PGA Professional Associate Membership Pathway Program, an initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of golf professionals.
“As I embark on my third year of this program, I couldn’t feel luckier to be part of a team and its culture at Geelong Golf Club,” said Jack. “PGA Professional Paul Christie has an incredible reputation in the industry and I’m extremely excited to learn from Paul and PGA Professionals Storm Ord and Darrell Brown.
Beyond the greens, Jack loves socialising and exploring the destinations his golf trips take him to. Jack also understands the importance of maintaining good health, especially in a demanding profession like golf.
As Men’s Health Week approaches (June 10-16), Jack said it’s important to prioritise health and well-being for men of all ages and abilities. “Looking after our health is really important, regardless of age. Golf is a great activity and has a range of benefits to improve the health and well-being of everyone! From mental to physical health, golf is just one way we can connect with others in a low impact and engaging sport.”
Jack’s love of golf started in his early days as a junior player representing Tasmania at a state level. His love for the game and desire for excellence led him to be part of high-performance squads, setting the stage for his career progression.
Prior to joining the team in Geelong, Jack proudly served as a PGA Associate at Seabrook Golf Club in Tasmania where he honed his skills and gained invaluable experience he now utilises in his current role.
PGA Professional and Venue Manager of Geelong Golf Club, Paul Christie said, “With exceptional talent and great communication skills, Jack has already become a valuable member of the team.
“As part of the PGA Membership Pathway Program, Jack will spend time in a specialised stream and focus on building his workplace requirements. Part of the pathway program is to compete in local and national golf events, and you can be sure the team and members of Geelong Golf Club will be supporting him every step of the way,” Paul said.
As Jack steps into this new chapter of his career, we look forward to watching his growth, confidence and game grow as part of golf’s next generation of PGA Professionals.
