The Glenorchy community are officially diving back into Glenorchy War Memorial Pool on October 1, following the completion of the venue’s $6.5m redevelopment.
Leading the venue into its next chapter is newly appointed Venue Manager Nat Gulliver, overseeing operations as the community returns to one of Tasmania’s most iconic outdoor aquatic venues.
Nat brings a wealth of managerial experience to Glenorchy, having worked for 25 years in various roles across wholesale, retail, warehousing, distribution, customer service and football operations in Tasmania.
When asked what she’s looking forward to the most at Glenorchy, Nat shared, “Glenorchy is a warm, supportive community that is lucky to have this historic site redeveloped with state-of-the-art facilities. In my new role I’m looking forward to diving in and building connections with the team, locals and members and forming strong relationships with local organisations.”
Nat continued, “I’m also a qualified Level 2 Sports Trainer and have spent the past eight years helping senior players with injuries, recovery and keeping their bodies in good shape, so I’m looking forward to using some of those skills to help support the community’s wellbeing goals.”

An iconic community asset returns
For over 60 years, the Glenorchy pool has been an iconic fixture in the region, with stunning views of Mount Wellington to the west and Mount Direction to the east.
The venue is operated by Belgravia Leisure, who have managed the site prior to its re-opening and is focused on supporting healthier, more connected communities in Glenorchy, now and into the future.
Upgrades include repairs which are expected to extend the life of the venue by five to seven years: a gas-boosted solar heating system, new chemical delivery infrastructure and a replacement switchboard.
An accessibility ramp has also been added to the main pool, along with a fully accessible change facility with a hoist ensuring no one misses out on the benefits of sport, recreation and wellbeing.
Mayor Sue Hickey said Glenorchy City Council was pleased to have an experienced venue leader in place ahead of the pool’s reopening.
“The venue is one of our city’s most loved community assets and Nat’s appointment ensures the venue will be in capable hands from day one.
“Nat’s enthusiasm for connecting with the community and supporting healthy, active lifestyles align strongly with Council’s vision for the venue. We welcome Nat and look forward to working with Belgravia Leisure to deliver a great experience for pool users.”
Community celebrations begin
The official reopening on Thursday 1 October 2026, features a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a First Splash Competition, with 25 community members invited to be the first to enter the redeveloped pool.
Celebrations continue with a Community Pool Party from 10am to 2pm on Saturday 3 October. The event includes free food and refreshments, giveaways, prize draws and fundraising activities supporting local community initiatives through the Belgravia Foundation.
