What better way to spend a Sunday morning than swimming, cycling and running with your community? That’s exactly what more than 180 locals signed up to do at the record-breaking MOVE Triathlon, held on Sunday 30th March at Queens Park Swimming Pool – making it the biggest event in the triathlon’s five-year history.
With 153 competitors crossing the finish line, it was a high-energy celebration of fitness, fun and Moonee Valley spirit.
Kicking off the morning, Mayor Ava Adams officially opened the event, calling it a “true showcase of what makes our community so special”.
Organised by MOVE Moonee Valley with the support of Moonee Valley City Council (MVCC), the day brought together a huge team effort from local partners, volunteers and participants of all ages and abilities.

“Congratulations on the success of this year’s Triathlon. We are so proud of the amazing effort from all those who contributed to the event.
“Thank you for your hard work and dedication in organising this important activity for the Moonee Valley community, events like these really bring people together and promote a healthy, active lifestyle,” said Bronwyn Commandeur from MVCC.
The event featured multiple race categories under the MOVE Triathlon 2025 banner, making it accessible to both first-timers and seasoned triathletes.

A morning boost of energising coffee and raffle sales helped raise $315.65 for the Belgravia Foundation. These proceeds will be reinvested into the community, supporting Belgravia Foundation’s mission of reducing barriers to participation in sport, aquatic, fitness, recreation and health programs.
“This was our biggest MOVE Triathlon yet and the atmosphere was electric,” said Amy Cross, Area Manager (MOVE Moonee Valley). “It’s a real credit to our team, our partners and the amazing community we’re lucky to be part of.”

A huge shoutout to everyone who made the day possible, including VicRoads, VicPol, Moonee Valley City Council, Victoria University’s student physios, Advanced Traffic Management, Triathlon Australia, Triathlon Victoria and Tomato Timing for their support.
“With a record turnout, perfect weather and so much community spirit, it was a fantastic day for the whole family. We’re incredibly proud of our team and our community and we can’t wait to do it all again next year,” Amy concluded.
