Research indicates that 40% of communities are missing out on physical activity, often due to factors like the absence of peer support, low self-esteem, or simply feeling time-poor. That’s why we’re launching ‘Around the World in April’ — a challenge that’s all about promoting overall health and well-being whilst building meaningful connections.
During the month of April, Belgravia Leisure health club members are invited to accumulate kilometres on machines that measure distance, contributing to a collective goal of going completely around the world, totaling approximately 40,000 km.
Whether it be on a treadmill, rower, a spin bike, or even swimming, members can exercise at their own pace on a machine that suits them.
It’s mostly about connecting with our passionate teams, forming bonds with fellow members and enjoying the energy within our venues that serve as community hubs. Together, we’re pushing boundaries, whether it’s a longer workout or just a quick session — we’re just aiming for that extra kilometre or rep!
Members can track their progress in the venue, with each venue competing to see who can travel the furthest! The challenge not only encourages physical activity but also nurtures a sense of community and interaction between members and our dedicated team members.
As we head into the colder months, get ready to warm up with our amazing teams, swap success stories with fellow members and soak up the contagious energy that keeps us moving forward!
Victoria Goodwin Barlow, Group Health and Wellbeing Manager added, “We recognise that motivation can sometimes wane as the year progresses and the colder weather moves in. With the ‘Around the World in April’ challenge, we aim to rekindle that spark by encouraging our members to commit to 30 minutes of activity, five times a week.
“It’s not just about the duration or intensity of the workout; it’s about consistently showing up and moving together! We’re inviting our members to embark on this fun journey not just as individuals, but as a community. Even if it’s just a quick session, every kilometre counts. Together, we move more.”
“We wanted to create an experience that goes beyond the typical workout routine,” Victoria said, emphasising the importance of fostering connections and camaraderie within our community.
