Swimming Australia and Belgravia Leisure have renewed their partnership for another three years with a new program to deliver safe, fun and effective water safety lessons to students of all ages and abilities.
With heatwave conditions predicted this summer, water safety is vital and Swimming Australia’s GOswim program, delivered by Belgravia Leisure, will deliver 60,000+ weekly learn to swim lessons to children and adults across over 65 venues in Australia this coming year to what equates to more than 3 million lessons.
GOswim swimming and water safety lessons empower students to think, discuss and make informed decisions whilst having fun in and around water. The lessons focus on contemporary experiential and activity-based learning, encouraging and supporting students to explore pathways into competitive and recreational lap swimming.
Interim CEO of Swimming Australia Steve Newman said he was thrilled to continue the relationship with the world-class aquatics’ provider: “Belgravia Leisure and Swimming Australia are determined to raise water safety awareness – we know we are in for heatwave conditions, and this is the time to prepare.”
“The National Drowning Report 2023 was recently released, and there were 281 deaths in the past 12 months – worryingly – there was an increase in drowning deaths in every age group over 45. Water safety isn’t just for kids – it’s for all of us.”
Grant Connors, General Manager, Programs at Belgravia Leisure said the partnership is a testament to both parties’ dedication to ensuring swimming and water safety lessons remain a top priority across our Nation.
“We are immensely proud to continue delivering the GOswim program in partnership with Swimming Australia. We believe this partnership supports our mission to not only keep children and adults safe but it encourages a love of swimming and other aquatic activities that we hope will last a lifetime.”
GOswim lessons are accessible and inclusive and are easily modified and adapted to suit any specific needs, they are delivered by highly qualified teachers who are trained by leading industry bodies, and lessons cater to all skill levels and ages.
Belgravia Leisure said they were also excited to play a part in shaping future swimming superstars via the GOswim Acadamy.
The Academy is designed for swimmers who want to take their swimming to the next level.
In the academy, students extend their competencies in a squad-type environment while covering water safety components at a higher level.
If Olympic gold isn’t in sight, a lifetime of enjoying the health benefits of swimming can still await. Whether there’s a future in competition, elite or recreation swimming for participants, the aim is to keep them in the water for a lifetime of safe aquatic activity.
