During the recent Level 4 lockdown in New Zealand, the team at Mt Albert Aquatic Centre have stayed connected with their diverse community and each other through social media. They encouraged the community to stay in their bubbles and where possible, get outside for some exercise.
The community have loved seeing the Mt Albert team connecting with them in their own language. The team asked the community to reach out for support and reach out they did.
Venue Manager at Mt Albert Aquatic Centre, Irene Smith said, “We wanted to unite our community through these challenging times and encourage them to connect with us for support. We had a customer who is blind reach out and ask for help during lockdown which is what we were hoping our members and guests would do if they needed help. She couldn’t get to the supermarket so we were able to support her in purchasing some groceries. Having that connection to our customers is really rewarding.”
