Jarrad Carey has been with Belgravia Leisure since September 2021 and is now the Centre Manager at Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre (TRAC). Before joining the team, Jarrad worked in leisure management, local government and Aussie Rules. When he’s not leading the team at TRAC, Jarrad is a dad of two boys, Lenny and Billy, a loving husband to Zara, and a passionate sports fan.
Jarrad’s favourite things about working at Belgravia Leisure are leading his incredible team and getting to know some fantastic members. Jarrad says, “The culture at Belgravia Leisure emphasizes that no single team member is more important than another, and we strive to create an environment where members and guests feel like they’re part of the TRAC family.”
Jarrad is a bit of a leadership fanatic and loves learning from some of the best in the industry. He has completed a Sports Management degree and is also a qualified primary school teacher. Looking ahead to the next three to five years, Jarrad hopes to continue growing his leadership within Belgravia Leisure, whether at TRAC or as an Area Manager.
When Jarrad is not at work, he’s most passionate about his family, kindness, and leadership. For him, family always comes first. Jarrad encourages his leadership team and broader team to prioritise family as well. He’s also passionate about kindness and always leads by example, with the perfect example below!
State Manager for Victoria/Tasmania Kris Miller said, “I experienced a great example of MBWA (Management By Walking Around) at TRAC when Jarrad joined a member at the café.
“The member showed Jarrad a collection of photos and shared how he used to manage bars and restaurants. The conversation lasted about 30 minutes and demonstrated the value of getting out and engaging with the community.”
We are lucky to have Jarrad as a part of the Belgravia Leisure family, and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in the future!
