Cindy has worked with Belgravia Leisure for the last three years. Cindy started as an aqua instructor and progressed to her current role as Health Club Manager, she says, “I still love teaching Aqua Aerobics but I am also the Web Champion and Access and Inclusion Coordinator at Cleveland Aquatic Centre.”
Cindy says some of her highlights working with Belgravia Leisure are that she gets to support the community by promoting health and wellbeing. “I love being able to support our community and our work environment is engaging and supportive. I enjoy the ongoing training and encouragement to become a better professional.”
How have you been impacted by Covid and what have you learnt?
“Covid has caused a major impact on everyone. Personally, I did not have any income during the lockdown period which was very hard for me, the community did not have the possibility to continue with their well-being routine so mental and physical health issues started to arise and/or got worse.
“I have learned that I was the only person with the power to change my perspective and find that challenging situations are opportunities to redesign myself and become stronger and more centred.”
Having good mental health, or being mentally healthy, is more than just the absence of illness; it’s a state of overall wellbeing. Belgravia Leisure has created a well-being toolkit with simple strategies for busy times.

What is your favourite and least favourite thing about your career?
“My career in the wellness industry has given me the opportunity to give back to the community and I love that.
“My least favourite thing about the career is that the fitness industry sometimes is heavily focused on trying to promote “perfect bodies” and superficial lifestyles instead of supporting people as they are and celebrating their diversity.”
At Belgravia Leisure, we proudly welcome, support and include all people into the facilities, programs, services and employment it offers to communities across Australia and New Zealand.

Where do you see yourself in the next three to five years?
“Continuing to support our community by promoting health, diversity and happiness.”
What are three things you’re most passionate about in life and why?
- Supporting the community because I have been blessed with a beautiful life in Australia and I would love to contribute to the well-being of individuals so they can also experience happiness in life.
- Dancing brings me true and honest happiness because I can express myself and share this passion with people and also make them happy.
- Share special moments with my loved ones and others, experiences are the only thing we can take with us everywhere for eternity.
What does sustainability mean to you?
“Sustainability to me means balance, where every individual has everything they need to thrive and support each other to build a better world.”
“I want to thank my manager Ashley Langbein and Regional Manager Gary Baldwin for giving me the opportunity to demonstrate my potential and for supporting me in developing my projects and ideas,” Cindy concluded.
It is Belgravia Leisure’s strategic commitment to have an Inclusion Coordinator in every year-round operating venue by July 31 2022.
