Byron has worked with Belgravia Leisure for just over a year and a half as a Duty Manager, Assistant Centre Manager and now Venue Manager at Michael Clarke Recreation Centre.
To celebrate Father’s Day this year, we asked some of our team members what Father’s Day means to them. Byron said, “Father’s day is a chance to take some time out of our busy lives and reflect on what has been sacrificed not only for me but for the whole family.”
When asked what some of his highlights of working with Belgravia Leisure were Byron said, “I really enjoy being part of the team that opened Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre. As well as opening both Victoria Park Pool and Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre after lockdown.
“Moving to Michael Clarke Recreation Centre to become the Venue Manager has also been a work highlight for me. I enjoy working with such high-achieving people on my team every day,” Byron said.
How have you, your team or your venue been impacted by Covid and what have you learnt?
“Covid has helped me realise how important our industry is and that we should be both excited and dedicated to making a positive impact within our community,” Byron said.
What is your favourite and least favourite thing about your career?
“My favourite thing is the people you meet both colleagues and customers. There are some amazing people with amazing stories. I can’t say there is a ‘least favourite thing’ as Zubran Nabi would say, ‘when you love what you do, you don’t work a day in your life,'” Byron said.
Where do you see yourself in the next three to five years?
“Hopefully in places and roles that I haven’t even imagined yet,” Byron said.
What are three things you’re most passionate about in life and why?
“Watching sport live in a stadium, it’s my happy place. Making a positive impact and of course, my family and friends,” Byron concluded.
