On Friday the 19th of July 2019, five Belgravia Leisure employees volunteered at the Knox City Council Tree Planting Day. The tree planting event was held in the City of Knox at Linear Reserve in Scoresby with over 160 people in attendance.
The day started with a Welcome to Country and traditional Smoking Ceremony and ended with a BBQ lunch for all involved. With everyone pitching in, the enthusiastic volunteers were able to plant over 2000 indigenous plants which will complete an important biodiversity network in the area.
The 2000 plants were a mix of trees, grasses and shrubs that were carefully selected to provide important habitat for native animals, reptiles and insects. Mass plantings like this help to support many species of local wildlife for years to come.
Thank you to our Belgravia Leisure team members who were involved in the day including Alex Hutchison, Centre Manager Knox Leisureworks, Caisey Dolheguy, Knox Operations Manager, Helen Rattle, Knox Swim School Conner Payne, VCAL student and Alexia Morgan our Group Manager for Business Improvement and Sustainability.
