National NAIDOC Week celebrations will take place from 2 to 9 July 2023. This annual event is an excellent opportunity for all Australians to honour and appreciate the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s National NAIDOC Week theme is “For Our Elders”. Elders play a vital role in our communities and families, serving as cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, and leaders. They provide guidance, wisdom, and support to younger generations.
The struggles and resilience of Elders have paved the way for the progress we see today. The fight for equality and justice has been carried on their shoulders, and we must recognise and acknowledge their contributions.
