New faces and first-timers participated in their first triathlon mid-March alongside their local community in the inaugural Queens Park Triathlon.
Belgravia Leisure in partnership with Moonee Valley City Council and Triathlon Victoria ran the very first Queens Park Triathlon. The event was held in the heart of Moonee Valley, beginning with the swim at The Queens Park Swimming Pool, followed by the ride which saw participants cross Pascoe Vale Rd through local Moonee Ponds streets, then returning to the final run leg of the race, with the run through Queens Park.
On the day, 129 community members arrived at Queens Park Swimming Pool to participate in the event. The race began at 6.30am with the final participants crossing the finish line at 10.30am.
Race Director, David Antonello said ‘We were absolutely thrilled with the outcome of the first Queens Park Triathlon. The local community really took to the event, and over one third were kids! We were lucky to watch a new generation of triathletes complete their first event’.
Participant and first-timer Sue said, “What an incredible event. The community was abuzz with excitement in the lead-up and on race day. I can’t wait to come back next year and bring some friends along.”
