On Wednesday, September 11th, Mill Park Leisure came alive with footy pride, with special guest and former Carlton player David Rhys-Jones, joining over 50 members and guests for a fun-filled event celebrating the footy finals.
Mill Park Leisure Venue Manager, Penny Palman said, “The atmosphere was electric with members who donned their favourite team colours to celebrate their love for the game and share in the excitement of the upcoming finals.
“David Rhys-Jones attending the morning tea was certainly a highlight for everyone. David mingled with members, shared stories from his playing days and took part in the various activities that the team had planned,” Penny said.
The event featured a variety of interactive activities. The footy fans tested their knowledge with some AFL trivia, competing for bragging rights while learning some fascinating facts about the sport. There was also plenty of action as members tried their hand at the footy target game, which sparked some friendly competition.
While the day was filled with fun and games, the most important aspect of the gathering was the fundraising.
The morning tea raised valuable funds for the Belgravia Foundation, an organisation dedicated to promoting inclusive and accessible recreational opportunities for all. A big thanks to the generosity of those who attended and donated.
“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined the event and made it such a success. Your participation and enthusiasm not only made for a fantastic day but also contributed to a worthy cause. Also, a huge thank you to the team, who did an amazing job pulling everything together,” Penny concluded.
As the AFL season continues to heat up, Mill Park Leisure looks forward to hosting more community events that bring people together and celebrate the spirit of sport and community.
