The National Aquatic Industry Committee (NAIC) was established by Royal Life Saving Australia (RLSSA) to lead the aquatics industry by strengthening the health, safety and viability of aquatic facility ownership and operations across Australia.
The NAIC is responsible for the development and endorsement of industry initiatives such as the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPO), which was first published in 1992 and has set the standard for best practice in design and operations of aquatic locations nationwide.
Following an industry call-out for committee member nominations in March 2021, RLSSA has confirmed the Committee’s membership for 2021 to 2023. Industry member organisations include Swimming Australia, AUSTSWIM, Australian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association (ASCTA), Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV), Aquatic Recreation Insistute NSW, Leisure Institute of Western Australia Aquatics (LIWA) and Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA).
Belgravia Leisure’s Group Health and Safety Manager Trent O’Hara will represent facility managers in partnership with representatives from other leisure management organisations such as Aligned Leisure, Bluefit, VIVA Leisure and YMCA.
“Water safety is a priority at Belgravia Leisure. We are proud to be a part of the NAIC, which will give us the opportunity to contribute to the committee’s industry initiatives in the coming years,” said Mr. O’Hara.
National Aquatics Manager Michelle Young will provide support and advice to NAIC in collaboration with Trent O’Hara.
