Australians across the country participated in TRIX3 – Australia and New Zealand’s most beginner-friendly indoor triathlon on 20 November 2021.
The indoor triathlon event was organised by Triathlon Australia in partnership with Belgravia Leisure. The event was designed to encourage participants aged 10 to 80 years old to take on their first triathlon in a fun, non-competitive and safe environment of a swimming pool, on a stationary bike and on a treadmill
The event was held at five locations in Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania and had over 100 participants sign up in total.
This year’s TRIX3 event was particularly important due to a hiatus in 2020 due to COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions. Belgravia Events CEO David Hansen was pleased that the event resumed in such a successful way in 2021. “TRIX3 was a great way to get people motivated, to challenge themselves and meet new people. We’ve had such terrific feedback from everyone who attended, that we’re already planning the next TRIX3 event for 2022!”
83% of surveyed participants said they had never completed a triathlon before, and their feedback was resoundingly positive.
One participant said, “This was a great introduction to triathlon for me. I am doing my first on-road triathlon in a week, so it was really good to be able to put each of the legs together in a competitive, fun and supportive environment.”
Triathlon Australia CEO Miles Stewart shares Belgravia and Triathlon Australia’s plans for another TRIX3 event to be held in Victoria, New South Wales and New Zealand in March 2022, designed especially for those that missed out this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
He said, “We have loved seeing the enthusiasm and energy from everyone who participated in TRIX3 this year. We can’t wait to bring this exciting event to 30 more venues in Australia and New Zealand in 2022.” Find out more about TRIX3 here: www.trix3.com.au
