As we wrap up another successful School Swimming carnival season, it’s important to reflect on the hard work and dedication that went into making it all possible. At Belgravia Leisure, we take pride in supporting schools and their students in showcasing their swimming abilities and fostering a love for swimming and aquatic sports.
This year, we were thrilled to see schools returning to our venues with pre-COVID levels of swimmers, along with the return of enthusiastic spectators filling our grandstands. This was a testament to the dedication and effort of our team members, who have been working tirelessly to ensure that our swimming pools and aquatic facilities are safe, clean, and ready for use.
In particular, we want to acknowledge the work of our Aquatic Operations Leadership Group, led by the new National Aquatic Safety Manager, Scott Vanderheyden, and the development of Belgravia Leisure’s Swimming Carnival Safety Guidelines. These guidelines were distributed to schools, providing them with the information and resources they needed to ensure the safety of their students during the carnival season.
We were also proud to support the Triple A’s for Aquatic Safety Campaign, launched in December, to increase lifeguard training and awareness of their role in ensuring the safety of all swimmers in our facilities. The success of this campaign was evident in the decrease in the number of incidents and lifeguard rescues during the 2023 School Swimming carnival season.
At Belgravia Leisure, we believe in the power of leisure to connect communities and foster a sense of well-being and inclusivity. Our team members work tirelessly to provide safe and welcoming environments where people of all ages and abilities can come together to swim, exercise, and socialise.
We are proud to have played a role in the success of the School Swimming carnival season, and we look forward to continuing to support our communities in staying active, healthy, and connected.
