Ahead of IDAHOBIT on 17 May, Belgravia Leisure venues across Australia and New Zealand are preparing to recognise the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia through rainbow displays, awareness activities and community events.
IDAHOBIT is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, stand against discrimination and reinforce the importance of ensuring everyone feels safe, respected and included.
Previous IDAHOBIT celebrations, along with events like the annual Rainbow Golf Day at Yarrambat Park Golf Course, showcase the efforts of local teams in creating inclusive, welcoming spaces and celebrating diversity year-round.
At Belgravia Leisure, inclusion is embedded in the organisation’s Social Inclusion Policy and ongoing commitment to ensuring all people feel welcome, respected and supported across venues, programs, services and workplaces.
Group Manager Access & Inclusion, Damian Gorman, said creating environments where everyone feels they belong is something Belgravia Leisure is committed to every day of the year.
“IDAHOBIT is an important opportunity to show support for the LGBTQIA+ community and reinforce that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and able to be themselves in our venues.
“We’re proud to support initiatives that promote belonging, spark meaningful conversations and help create environments where people feel genuinely welcome.
“Teams will once again take part in local activations and awareness initiatives, continuing the important work of fostering inclusive community spaces, not just on IDAHOBIT, but every day of the year,” Damian concluded.
