“When travelling with pets, preparation makes all the difference,” Ash said.
“Remember to bring their bedding, food and water bowls and leash. While some parks will supply some of these in cabins on occasion, it’s best to come prepared. We’ve found some dogs prefer to sleep on their own beds, even when they are provided.”
Plan ahead with the Park
“While these parks are pet friendly, always remember to notify management that you are bringing your pet before arrival. Some sites may welcome pets during off-peak times, in select cabins only or sites only as a rule,” continued Ash.
Check your itinerary is pet-friendly
Ash recommends checking whether the attractions and places you want to visit during your stay are pet-friendly in advance. Many popular national parks are generally not accessible with pets.
If you are planning on venturing out, ensure to research your destination, read reviews and book local sitters in advance. Most towns near popular, pet-free attractions have local pet sitting businesses that can ensure a safe stay for your pet for the day.
