Belgravia Leisure is proud to support International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 and recognises and applauds the many ways our venues celebrated this important occasion across the country.
We believe in the power of women to lead, inspire and drive change. We actively promote gender equality and embrace equity, striving to provide inclusive and supportive workplaces where every team member feels welcome, safe, included, accepted, heard and seen.
In the spirit of IWD, we are pleased that female representation in our workforce has increased by 2% from 2024, with females now making up 62% of our team. We are proud of having such a strong female cohort of team members and continue to celebrate their successes across the business.
How our venues celebrated

Richelle’s dedication, expertise in running a swim school of 3,700 students and leadership in aquatics services made her a perfect voice for this empowering event.

SWELL Palmerston was host to a water safety program for migrant women and children who may not have had access to pools previously. This program empowered participants with essential water skills that could one day save their lives.

Ascot Vale Leisure Centre hosted a special Women’s Wellbeing Workshop on Thursday 13th March. MOVE Moonee Valley partnered with Neami National to deliver this free workshop as part of the Partners in Wellbeing Program.
A free yoga session and acai bowl breakfast was provided to women at Higher State at Melbourne Airport in collaboration with Novotel.

Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre celebrated by holding free female group fitness classes and a delicious morning tea, with a guest later remarking “Thank you for all the good staff at MMMC for a wonderful morning of exercise, friendship, fun and food”.

Yawa Aquatic Centre also held a free ‘Women and Exercise: Ages and stages workshop’ for all members and guests on Thursday 13th March. With 48 women in attendance, the the workshop offered invaluable insights into the various stages of women’s health and fitness. Lisa Westlake, an expert physiotherapist and published author, provided practical and actionable advice on topics such as navigating the physical and emotional changes of puberty, key exercise considerations during and after pregnancy, and how exercise and lifestyle can support women through menopause. It was a wonderful opportunity for participants to connect with others while also gaining expert knowledge on balance, flexibility, strength and bone health.

Lastly, eight of our Belgravia Leisure female team members attended the Life Saving Victoria International Women’s Day Breakfast. The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with incredible women who are breaking barriers and making a difference. Kara Monoghan, Senior Business Operations Manager Victoria & Tasmania said “It’s fantastic to see Belgravia Leisure represented at such an inspiring event…Celebrating the leadership and contributions of women in our industry is so important. Thank you everyone who attended for being part of the conversation and driving change. Looking forward to seeing how we continue to champion gender equality and empowerment across all levels!”

Through these inspiring events held across the country, our passion for International Women’s Day and all it represents shines through. We will continue to highlight the important contributions of women in our communities and on our teams not just on IWD, but throughout the year. Let’s inspire, support, and uplift each other, driving meaningful change together!
