The All Abilities Hoops WA comedy fundraiser at Loftus Recreation Centre was a slam dunk, raising $1,903 for the league.
The funds raised at the event will directly benefit All Abilities Hoops WA’s programs, which create inclusive basketball opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The league is focused on breaking down barriers and promoting inclusion, ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy the game of basketball.
The funds will go towards providing essential equipment, such as new polo shirts and basketballs, ensuring players have what they need to continue enjoying the game whilst improving their skills and building a stronger community.
Mo Talemaitoga, Venue Manager, said, “With support from the Belgravia Foundation, D.S.J. Supports, the Perth Redbacks and local businesses, the event was a huge success with a great turnout.

“The night was filled with laughter, raffles, prizes and plenty of energy. The talented comedians who generously donated their time kept the crowd in stitches while additional activities like jackpot games added extra excitement for everyone.
“We’re so grateful for the support of our local community at Loftus Rec Centre. It’s great to see everyone come together to have some fun and support a cause that helps so many people get involved in the sport they love,” Mo concluded.
All Abilities Hoops WA offers programs for players of all skill levels and ages, from recreational games to skill-building sessions and competitive leagues. With experienced coaches and volunteers, participants get the opportunity to improve their basketball skills while having fun and making lasting connections.
“We’re excited to announce that, in partnership with the Perth Basketball Association, we’re launching an integrated program,” said Dannie Zappulla, Programs Coordinator.
“This initiative will allow our players to compete alongside athletes without disabilities, promoting inclusivity and giving everyone the chance to play in the same league.”
The event’s success was made possible by local businesses that donated prizes and gift certificates, adding extra excitement to the night and helping raise even more funds.
“I had an amazing time at the fundraiser. It was so much fun and the comedians had me laughing the whole night,” said one player. “Events like this make me feel included and appreciated.”
Thanks to the generosity of the community, the future of All Abilities Hoops WA is looking bright and the funds raised will ensure the league continues to grow and provide more opportunities for athletes to play, compete and thrive.
